About the Book

The evangelist preaching the revival had his own ideas about salvation and how best to serve God. The following is a list of things one had to give up in order to be pleasing in the eyes of the Lord:

Celebrate no holidays including birthdays or government holidays
Dress Code which involved long skirts, long sleeves, high neckline, no pants or shorts, no swimwear, no makeup, women could not cut their hair, no rubber bands as it might cut your hair off when styling, and no jewelry
No pictures on walls
No toys that could be mistaken for a “graven image” (no dolls, stuffed animals, Barbie’s, etc.).
No mixed swimming and no bathing suits (your body must be covered at all times)
No music except gospel
No TV
No Medical Doctors (no vaccines)
No Competing (sports or board games)

Now that I was turning eight years old and better able to understand, I felt the burden of these rules and was beginning to feel a fear about doing anything that might “send me to hell”.
